Insurance Coverage
In Nova Scotia, the fees for psychologists and counsellors are not covered by your general health plan (i.e., the MSI card you use when you visit a physician). However, if you have private insurance, insurance from your workplace, or your school, the fees for our psychologists and counsellors are often covered.
Popular insurance plans offering coverage at Grady Psychological Services include (but are not limited to):
- Sun Life Financial
- Manulife
- Great-West Life
- Blue Cross
- Desjardins
- Green Shield
Direct Billing
We currently offer direct billing to Blue Cross. With all other providers, we will offer you a detailed digital receipt to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider about your specific coverage for counselling and psychological services.
Please note that we offer direct billing for assessments and treatment for clients being referred by Veterans Affairs Canada, Members of the Canadian Armed Forces, and the Worker’s Compensation Board of Nova Scotia.
Make sure you hang on to your receipts, as therapy services can be claimed as a medical expense on your taxes.
